Book Review… A Life Without Limits

On May 14, 2012, in Blogs, by Marci from Triathlete 4 Life

So as y’all know I went to the A Life Without Limits book signing this weekend which officially kicked off Chrissie Wellington’s whirlwind book tour in the states!

I had read A Life Without Limits a week or so before the signing! It seriously by all means is a must read!

In the memoir Chrissie captures her life before and during her time in the sport! All 13 Ironman races… All in which she WON are accounted for! I
Won’t tell much more but if you dream of anything I encourage you to read it!

Here we go…

No Suprise Here…

On May 7, 2012, in Blogs, by Marci from Triathlete 4 Life

But Ironman 70.3 National Harbor got cancelled! Gee… Really? I kinda saw it coming! The positives… I get a FULL refund from that race and I don’t have to do a 70.3 in the heat/ humidity of the summer in DC! So instead I’m going to replace my “A” race of the season with the Rev3 Half Full 70 Triathlon up in Ellicot City Maryland on October 7th! I did this exact race back in it’s Inaugural Year of 2010 and actually really liked it! The bike course was almost hell but it was a great physical and mental test! As soon as I get my money back from Ironman 70.3 National Harbor… I’m signing up for Rev3 Half Full! As far as my third triathlon of the season… I’m going to need to find a FLAT one… at least for the bike! Speedy… the road bike… will be used for both Columbia Tri and Rev3 Half Full… so poor Zoom… the tri bike… will need to be raced on at least once this year! Anywhose… off I go to complete some drylands and a 1500 Yard Free TT in the pool! Wish me luck! Here we go…

Bonking Twice in a 10k

On May 2, 2012, in Blogs, by Marci from Triathlete 4 Life

That’s exactly what I did on Sunday at the 2012 Kaiser Permanente Pike’s Peek 10k that runs from Shady Grove Metro down to White Flint Mall in Rockville Md! My race was going great up until mile 4 when I bonked the first time! I guess I had used all my energy at that point, so I took in a Gu Chomp and then two miles later at mile 6 of a 6.2 mile race I bonked again! At mile 6 there was nothing I could do, but try to sprint downhill to the finish line in front of White Flint Mall. Even with my double bonk I didn’t do way to bad! After all, it’s just one of a zillion races this year!

Time: 51:17 Minute Mile Average Pace: 8:16 Age Group Placing: 34 out of 203 Female Overall Placing: 234 out of 1445 Here we go…

Racing for Mom…

On April 29, 2012, in Blogs, by Marci from Triathlete 4 Life

This past Wednesday marked a year since my mom passed away! It’s a been a tough year hands down without her! I miss lots of things that she hasn’t been able to do… especially having her come watch me at several races that I have done in the past year… whether they are low key MoCo Road Runners Club races or big name triathlons such as ChessieMan! Though I’m focused on the race I’m doing I tend to have “mommy” moments where even though I carry this picture…

so I can remember that mom is there watching me do a race… I cry because I won’t get a hug from her at the finish line and she won’t be able to tell her friends and even my friends about how great I did! This morning I race Kaiser Permanente’s Pike’s Peek 10k

down Rockville Pike from Shady Grove Metro down to White Flint Mall! I have the picuter of her and I attached to my race belt and will race for her once again! Let’s hope her cheering from above gives me some enjoyment… speed… and maybe a PR! To my number one cheerleader… This race is for YOU! Love you Mom! Here we go…

Even though it might be a while till I start coaching others, I just want to in many ways get her done! My goal is to get it turned in by Friday! Cross your fingers for me and wish me well!

Becoming Addicted…

On April 10, 2012, in Blogs, by Marci from Triathlete 4 Life

To my training that is! Now that I am a little over 17 weeks out of National Harbor 70.3 and a little over 6 weeks out of Columbia Tri… I should be addicted! Im saying that because it would be nice to have a season where I am PROUD of myself and not EMBARRASSED with myself! I would write out my training plans for the week on here … just so my method to my madness could be seen… but that could take hours to do! I’ll get more into my race specific goals a few out of the races… but for now… I’m concentrating on not being so hard on myself! So with that I’ll stay addicted to my training!
